Nowadays, there is a wide range of convergence across academia and industry, thus the possibility of intelligent convergence system that imitates human beings and communicates with humans is also highlighted. For the academic establishment of this intelligent system and its application to the industry, the Program in Intelligent Systems has been established in the department of Trans-disciplinary Studies aiming at an interdisciplinary and convergent education and research institute across Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Control Engineering, Ergonomics, Business Administration, Industrial Design and so forth. The program focuses on applying intelligent convergence technologies to new industries such as human- friendly robots, large-scale information processing systems, arti cial intelligence, and IT for future automobiles.
